Back in 1995 there were approximately 12,500 commercial fitness centers in the United States. Since 2008, there are more than 29,000! One recent authority suggests the following ten ways to recharge your club and set it apart from the competition:

For years credit card companies have been cracking down on merchants that do not sufficiently protect credit card data from evil-doers. To help merchants minimize the risk of compromised credit card data, the Payment Card Industry (PCI) set standards to protect such data.
One such standard is that credit card data stored in a software program should only be stored in a program that meets Payment Application Best Practices (PABP).

Surprisingly, many companies that claim to be certified are absent from the list. In fact, most other fitness club management software companies have yet to meet PABP standards.

Tomorrow morning I am off to Toronto to attend the CanFitPro trade show. Last year was our first year to attend, and while the show was over all, smaller than what we were used to, it was time well spent. The Canadian market has been good for Go Figure, and we like being a part of it. This year I will be speaking health club professionals in the tradeshow about the three most deadly forms of member attrition. It will be a clinic on how to inoculate against them as they affect all health clubs to some degree.

I know old habits die hard, but if you’re still using a non-integrated online billing company, here’s another good reason to switch to Go Figure’s integrated pay processors.
Recently I was talking to a customer who used to use an online billing company to process their EFT and credit card payments. He wanted to avoid the hassle of entering data an updates into the web system, so he decided to make the switch to the EFT and credit card processors integrated with the iGo Figure software, thinking that was the main benefit he would realize. After completing the switch, he was floored at how many members he had not billed because of mistakes he (or his staff) had made entering data in the online billing system.
In addition to the time you’ll save with the integration, it will help you avoid costly errors too.
