iGo Figure Software Joins “The Great Walk to Beijing 2008”

I am pleased to announce that Go Figure has teamed up with Australian superstar and cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John and Curves co-founder Diane Heavin in the fight against cancer.

Go Figure, Inc. will participate in the Great Walk to Beijing fundraiser through a corporate matching pledge, and has promoted “walking along” as Olivia Newton-John, Curves founder Diane Heavin, and other celebrities, trekked 142 miles (228 km) over some of the oldest and steepest portions of the Great Wall of China.

Curves International is a worldwide presenting sponsor of “The Great Walk to Beijing 2008,” a fundraiser that will benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal, and has pledged a minimum $1 million donation to the event.

I and our Development Team attended Microsoft’s “Heroes Happen Here” conference last week in Houston.  The conference showcased new Microsoft products recently released or to be released this year, and gave our team a terrific opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of software development.  The highlighted products were SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and Windows Server 2008.  As you may know, the iGo Figure software is built on a SQL Server 2005 database structure.  The good news is that it looks like SQL 2008 has many new features that will help us deliver an even better member management software product to our customers.

All in all, it was a good conference, and our Development Team is very excited about implementing these new products.

The iGo Figure, member and customer management software, version 3.6 is available to users that speak the following languages:

There are no separate modules to purchase. All languages are professionally translated and we work to have each verified by one of our current users that speak that language to help ensure the quality. More languages are on the way, but we did not forget that our users may have members or customers of their business who speak a different language than they do! Users of the iGo Figure software will be able to select language preferences for members as well. This means that when a member scans a key tag for attendance, views a receipt from an item they purchased, or views a weight and measure report, they will see each of these areas in their language! There are currently 18 languages to choose from.

We feel that our software architecture is unique in that it enables us to make quick changes to our code and update languages in a short period of time. We think that we have the most robust and dynamic set of features in the industries we serve: Health Clubs, Fitness Centres, Gymnastic Centers, Yoga Studios, Day Spas, Chiropractors, Gyms, Massage Centers, and Physical therapy businesses.

The IHRSA 2008 Convention was held in San Diego March 6 – 8. I and members of our sales team attended. This convention is one of the largest in the fitness industry, and it showcases products from hundreds of vendors.

The convention was terrific. Many customers stopped by to say “hi”, and many more club owners stopped by to pick up a free trial version of the software. Club owners from more than 15 different countries stopped by, including Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Ireland and more. Many were wowed when I showed them how easy it was to run the software in their language (currently available in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Greek, Turkish, Dutch, Russian, Hebrew and Arabic).

There was also quite a buzz about our two newest features:

1. Integrated online scheduling – allows club owners to set up an online schedule of classes, personal trainers, or anything else they want to schedule, and members can sign up for and pay for classes online through the scheduler.
2. Door/access facility access module. This allows clubs to set up 24 hour access that allows members to access the facility with their membership card. It can also be hooked up to a turnstile.

Joe Ochoa, owner of Family Gym in Coronado, CA and a long time customer of Go Figure, was the first to have the door access module installed. I had the chance to visit his club while at the convention – great facility and great equipment.

We also ran into the folks at Retention Management. Rich and Jack said for me to tell everyone they said “Hi!” For those who don’t know, we integrated their member retention service to the iGo Figure Software about a year ago, and many of our customers who have tried love it. The booth was so busy that we really did not have time to visit all the other booths, which was a little disappointing because I wanted to check out all the new products being showcased; oh well, maybe next time.

The show was a great success, and we’re looking forward to attending the 2009 Convention (in San Francisco). Hope to see you there!

I attended the 1st Annual International Franchise Expo in Athens today. Great convention. I had an opportunity to meet many different franchise owners from many countries who were very interested in applying Go Figure’s member and customer management software to their business. The fact that its now translated to 10 different languages was very appealing to franchisors who operate in several countries.

With well over 8,000 current iGo Figure users sold in 32 different countries, one might think that getting quality training or customer support would be a challenge. “Not at Go Figure!” exclaimed Batool Hassan, Go Figure’s tech support manager for over two years.

I take a lot of pride in what we do to ensure every issue or question is addressed professionally and quickly. We sometimes handle over 1000 calls in a week which can range from some viruses that infect the user’s computer, to an MS Windows reinstall, to simple ‘how to’ questions. On average, our users only hold for about a minute and we can resolve issues on average in 9 minutes.

Batool continued by saying that keeping all of our support in-house with our development staff right here in Sugar Land, Texas (outside of Houston) enables quick and accurate support of our users.
